Wondrous Wednesday: Omelet of the Planes and Pipes of the Brewers (D&D 5E)
Two food-related items today.
The first comes from "Still More [Gods Forbid] Out-rages From the Mages," from Dragon #144 (April 1989), by John M. Maxstadt.
Omelet of the Planes
Wondrous item, common

This
white carton appears to be made of a kind of strange foamy paper, and
is embossed with an unusual symbol. When opened, it will be found to
contain an old, cold, tough, and unappetizing omelet and a wax-coated
bag. If left alone, the omelet will become older, colder, tougher, and more
unappetizing as time goes by. If a character attempts to eat the
omelet, they must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or discover
what the paper bag is used for. The omelet provides sustenance (however
disagreeable) for one individual for one day.
If the omelet is successfully eaten, it will be replaced the next day at dawn with an identical omelet. No matter how many omelets are eaten, they never ever get any better.

The second comes from the article "Not Found In Any Stores!" from Dragon #120 (April 1987), by James MacDougall.
Pipes of the Brewers
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
You must be proficient with wind instruments to use these pipes. While you are attuned to the pipes, intoxicated people are indifferent toward you and will not attack you unless you threaten or harm them.
The pipes have 3 charges. If you play the pipes as an action (typically playing a jingle used by a brewery), you can use a bonus action to expend 1 to 3 charges, turning one gallon of water or any other liquid into ale with each expended charge. If there is no liquid available, the charge is wasted. The pipes regain 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.
Curse. While attuned to the pipes of the brewers, you suffer from dipsomania, receiving the Flaw, “Being drunk keeps me sane.” The exact effects must be adjudicated by the DM. The dipsomania can only be cured by a remove curse, heal, or wish, which breaks your attunement to the pipes.
